The air circulation in this vortex illustrates, on a small scale, what happens in atmospheric whirlwinds, tornadoes, waterspouts, or dust devils.
Tornadoes form during violent storms when warm, rising air currents begin to rotate, creating winds that can reach speeds over 350 km/h.
